The Sydney water police made a seizure of 150 boxes, containing 10.725 valuable cigars, which were being smuggled ashore from the Meesageries Company's steamer Sydney. The Rev. A. Reid says :—" Tried by the moral test, the missionary spirit test, or any other test, there was not a country under heaven which was more eminently Christian than Fiji."
The income of the see of Manchester, to which Bishop Moorhonse has just been appointed, is worth £4200, The Bishop will not for the present, however, be entitled to a seat in {be House ot Lords.

The Bishop of Ballarat (writes the Melbourne correspondent of the Sydney Morning Herald) hae invented a prayer to be said in churches beseeohing the Almighty to send us honest members of Parliament in the coming election.
A handy little publication hag just been issued from the Government Printing Oilice — viz,, a "Time-table of Mails." It is a little portable book of stiff card paper, and is got up in a novor and most excellent style, and reflects very great credit upon Mr. Didsbury.
