Tnrawera arrived at 11 a.m. She left Melbourne on the 21st, at 0.10 p.m. and arrived at Hobart on the 28rd, at S'SO ■p.m. Sailed at midnight. Had variable winds throughout. She sails at 5 p.m. for DuDedin. Saloon passengers : -For Bluff: Rev. S. Williams, Mie. Hitchcock, Messrs. Symour, Burford, Coates, McCaitcheon, Ay."on. Wellington, Monday.—The steamer Star of the South, bound from Port Chalmers to Greymouth, put in here on account of her high pressure cylinder having burst when between Jackson's Head and Stephen Island, at three p.m. yesteidsy afternoon. The mate of the steamer bad a nariow escape. Ho was looking through the skylight at the engine, and had ivist withdrawn his head when the top of the cylinder, blew off and then fell into the stokehold, the fireman narrowly escaping being struck by it.
