THE SALVATION ARMY AT TIMARU.
[By TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] T'MARU, Friday. "Major" Barker,, of the Salvation Army, arrived from Dunedin to-day, and was welcomed by the local corps of the army, whq then proceeded to march through the principal streets of the. town with drum and tinwhistle band. They had been Warned by the Mayor and others that their actions were i likely to frighten horses, but. they refused t'o desist. The result was that a child narrowly escaped being killed by a runaway dray (the j horse of •which was frightened by tha noise.) j passing over its legs and breaking one of them.
