THE CAMBRIDGE LAND COURT.
[BY TiLEttRAPH.—OMS CORRESPOKDENT.] Camiskidce, Tuesday. On" the Whakamaru re-hearing case bsiDjj called on this morning, Judge Williams explained to the natives that, notwithstanding the opinion expressed by tlie Court as to Wi Kaitaia'a stiict impartiality, the assessors had been sent back from Auckland in consequence of a representation made by Mr. Sheehan to the Chief Judge. lie it would now be necessary to put off this case till January, much to the inconvenience of all parties. Aperahama complained of the wrong done to him, and Mr. Sheehan's action in the matter in communicating over the heads of the judges is freely commented on here. The next case taken will be Whetu No. '2, within the l'atetcre boundaries. On the 20th December the Court will adjourn to January 10. Jn the Waotu case no further progress was made, tlie natives not yet having agreed about the hapu divisions. A long argument took place between Mr. Sheehan and Dr. Buller as to tlie rights of parties in regard to maps before the Court, where the cost of survey had not been discharged. The result seemed very inconclusive, except that the discussion brought out very clearly certain defects in tlie present Native Lauds Act. The diflieulty was practieally got over by a suggestion from the ' ourt that Ur. Iluller, who is acting for the I'ateten; Company, should at once register his survey liYn and apply for an award, which he agreed to do the following morning.
