PAPAKURA.
TilE annual meeting of the Papakura Literary Institute, was held in the school-room on Friday, 2Sth January, Mr. R. T. -Nome presided in the chair. The Secretary, Mr. Shanaghan, brought up the report of the committee, from which it appears that the library now contained 720 works, 55 works having been added during the year. 919 volumes were issued and Sli3 -volumes returned during the year. The income, exclusiye of the grant from the Board of Education of £15 9s 9d, was £19 13s Gd; expenditure, £S Ss Sd : balance in hand, £11 4s 9d. It was resolved to expend a portion of the balance in replacing such standard books as were unusable, and the remainder in the purchase of new works ; also, to apply for a site for ;i public library. The Rev. Mr. Norrie was elected president; Mr. Shanaghau, secretary and treasurer ; and Messrs. W. P. Gordon, J. B. Hay, W. McGennan, and F. McClysomiel members of committee.
