NGARUAWAHIA
The annual meeting of the householders for the election of a school eommitte was held on Monday evening. About 40 persons were present. The secretary brought forward the financial statement, which was passed. The committee brought up a report on school matters, which showed a very unsatisfactory state of things. There had been too many changes of teachers. The school had been closed more than half of its regular time. The late master had been dismissed for a supposed lack of discipline, &c. J he report stated that the committee thought it very unfair on the part of the late examiner of the school children that he only devoted two and a-lialf hours for his examination wiiereas at other schools, with onlv a few more scholars, he devoted two days to his work. The committee had requested the Central Board to make another and impartial examination, but to no purpose. The following gentlemen were elected a committee tor the present year Messrs. Lindsay James, Dickeson, Meßurnv, Edgecumbe' Keesing, and Butcher.—[Own Correspondent, January 25.]
