Thk annual meeting of householders to elect a school committee was held at the school-room on Monday, the 24th instant. Mr. Gentil was voted to the chair. The statement of accounts showed a total receipt of £•_<) 1- s od. The expenditure left a balance of £2 ss. Mr. J. Aubin explained to the meeting that the balance ou hand was not as large as might have been expected, as the Board of Education had refused to pay the capitation allowance due to the committee for the quarter ending September 30th, alleging as a reason that the Government allowances had not been paid the Board for that quarter. The meeting s'rongly condemned the evasive and deceiving manner in which the correspondence had been conducted by the Board with respect to that quarter's allowance, ;,nd desired the next elected committee to forward the whole correspondence to the Chairman of the Board of Education, so that redress might be obtained. The following gentlemen were then duly elected the school committee for the ensuinj year ■—Messrs J Aubin, J. Saye, T. Finch, G. Prince," J Gonnonsway, C. B. Gentil, and Edward Sturmer. A hearty vote of thanks having been \oteu to the chairman ami meml>ers of tiae late school committee, the business terminated.—At a meeting of the newlyelected school committee, Mr. J. Aubin was elected chairman. — [Own Correspondent, January 2(J.]
