CATTLE INSPECTION.
TO SHB EDITOR. Sir,—Will yon kindly inform your country subscribers whether it is compulsory to lime and bury the carcases of cattle slain by order of the Inspector, when the animals so slaughtered prove to be free from disease ? It is reported that, although the beast killed at Ohaapo the other day was good marketable beef, the liming and burying process was faithfully carried out. Surely this was an excess of zeal on the part of the Inspector, and an unnecessary waste of food.—l am, &c., OilvUPO. [We believe that owners of cattle living in a district proclaimed infected will have to comply with the requirements of the Inspectors and Cattle Board, so long as the district remains under euch a proclamation. Any grievence experienced by settlers should be eocununicated to the looal Cattle Board. —ED.]
