THE EXPENDITURE FOR PUBLIC WORKS NORTH OF AUCKLAND.
TO THE EDITOH. Sib, —I observe in a late issue of your paper that the member for ilarsden (Captain Colbeck), in addressing his constituents at Waipu, stated that the £65,000 voted last session for public works north of Auckland was obtained entirely by him. Would you allow me to ask him, through the medium of your paper, uoder what circumstances he obtained it ? Did he move for it in the House ? Did he speak strongly in favour of it ? Did he vote for it even ?—lf so, perhaps he will kindly refer me to the page or pages in Hansard, [where I can at my leisure peruse his speeches on the subject.—l am, &c., A Marsden Elector. P.S.—Newspaper courtesy forbids, I believe, my sending this letter for insertion in any other paper, so perhaps yon will allow me to add, in the language of some advertisers, Northern Advocate please copy.— M.E.
