The s.s. lona arrived in harbour on Saturday from Russell, with passengers and cargo. She will sail for the same ports this afternoon. The Union Compnuy's s.s. Hawea took her departure on Saturday afternoon for Russell, and will return this morning, steaming from the Railway "Wharf for East Coast ports and the South at 4 p.m. The Union Company's s.s. "Wellington will arrive in the Manukau at 8 a.m. to-morrow from New Plymouth and the South, with the whole of the Southern portion of the outgoing San Francisco mails. This change has been made in order to give Wellington and all ports South a day longer for their despatch. The Union Company's s.s. Rotorua, from Tauranga and Southern ports, is expected to arrive in harbour about 3 a.m. to-morrow. She sails for Sydney at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. The schooner Energy cleared at the Customs on Saturday for Tonga and with several passengers and a full cargo of Island trade. She will sail to-day. The s.s. Rowena sailed on Saturday for Mercury Bay and Tauranga, with passengers and cirgo. The s.s. Hero sailed on Saturday night for Sydney and Melbourne, with passengers and cargo. The brigantine Darcy Pratt cleared at the Custom-house on Saturday, and will sail to-day for Kaipara, and will load there with timber for a Southern port. The barque Bella Mary, for Hobart Town, sailed yesterday afternoon in ballast. Numerous schooners and cutters, which have been in harbour during the regatta festival, took their departure on Saturday for Russell and coastal ports. The R.M. s.s. Zealandia, from Sydney, may be expected about midnight, or at an early hour to-morrow morning. She will sail for Honolulu and San Francisco at noon to-morrow. The P.M. s.s. City of Sydney will sail for Sydney during the day. She will call in at Kusseil and take on board a quantity of coal. • The brigantine Myrtle will sail to-day for the Manukau, and there load with puriri timber for Wellington. The s.s. Pretty Jane arrived in harbour yesterday morning from Gisborne, and is advertised to sail for the same port to-day. The Government s.s. Stella sailed for Wellington yesterday.

ENGLISH. NEW ZEALAND COMPACT. * The ship Maraval, from London, arrived in harbour on the 19th ultimo, after a good run of 94 days. She hauled to the wharf on the 24th ultimo, and is now landing her cargo in eicellent condition. The barque Clan Ferguson lan<led her cargo in excellent condition, and sailed for Valparaiso on the 28th ultimo. The ship Loch Fleet is filling up rapidly for London, and it is expested that she will sail in si fortnight's time, as large quantities of cargo are coming forward. Messrs. Shaw, Saville and Co. 'r, vessel May Queen is loading very speedily, and has already on board a large quantity of cargo, consisting of wool, tallow, copra, &c. She is expected to sail for London in about 10 days. The barque James Wishart is discharging her cargo in excellent condition, and to-day or to-morrowit will be all on shore. She will take I in ballast and sail for Portland, Oregon. The barque Gadlys, after discharging her cargo in first-rate order, proceeded to Valparaiso on the 19th ultimo. BY TELEGRAPH. KUSSELL. February 2.—Sailed, 5.25 p.m. : Hawea, s.s., for Auckland. TAURANGA. February 2.—Arrived: 9.45 a.m.: Kowena, s.s., from Auckland. WELLINGTON'. February I.—The Forest Queen has been floated from the Otaki beach. The Hyderabad is still in the same position. The Pelican, schooner, from Greymouth with coals, which went ashore at Foxton, is likely to be got off. Arrived: The Claude Hamilton, from Nelson; the Taiaroa, from the North. CHEISTCHUECH. February I.—Arrived : Helena, brigantine, from the Bay .of Islands; Wanaka, a.s., from Port Chalmers. The ship Northern Monarch, Captain Kansom, this morning, anchoring off Kip a. Island at'9.3o o'clock. She has some 355 immigrants on board, and left Plymouth on October 31st. The yellow flag was hoisted, amd the ship placed in quarantine, there being measles on board. During the last month there have been 22 cases of measles amongst tho children, and nine deaths liave occurred during the passage, all of children under eight years of age, and, with one exception, from bronchitis following measles. Tw<o recent cases of measles hare occurred within the last week. There have been no other disease; of any kind worthy of note during the passage. Sailed :. BEPOKTED WJiECK. [per ••herald" special wire] CHRISTCIIURCH, Saturday. Information was received tp-day that a vessel named the Clyde, of Sydney, had been washed ashore at the Tamata beach, between the mouth of the Rakaia Kiver and South Bridge. There was no person on hoard, nor were there any boat 9 attached to the vessel. It was stated that the vessel was laden with wheat. The tonnage was not given, and further particulars are pro- 1 mised shortly, but in the meantime inquiries have been m ids by the police at various shipping ports as to whether any craft of the name given had left there lately.
