MUSIC HALL, SYMONDS-STREET.

Mr. Walter Montgomery c,uve tho fourth, and last, of the sories of recitals on Saturday ovening. Thera was a numerous audionco. The performance was under tho special patronage of his Honor the Supetintendent, who was prij ent. Mr. Gillies, upon entering tbe Hall, was very warmly greetnd. The programme comprised some cl tho selections which wo have already noticed. The additions last evening wero " Poloniue' Africa" (" Hnmlet"), "ThoJJreamofClarence" (Richard III.") and " Queer. Mitb" ("Uomeo and Juliet.") The miscellaneous selection comprised pieces from Carbarn, Poe, Farmer, Wuugh, Terry, Burns, I.afenu. All these were rendered with such eff ctiveness us to elicit vory warm and frn qu m applause. The defent most noticeable is the fragmentary character of the entertainment itself. Tliia evening, however, iUr. Montgomery will appear at the Prince of Wales before tin Auckland audience in tho more legitimate walk of his profession. Ho has chosen " Bamlet" for his first appearance on thn Auckland stage. We are informed that this is Mr. Montgomery's favorite part, and if this be so, wo will have the best opportunity of noting his characteristics. We congratulate Mr. HhU, the lessee, upon his engagement of Mr. Montgomery. Wβ doubt not that everything requisite will be done to ensure succesn.
