CANADIAN SETTLEMENT.
To the Editor of the Herald. Sir, —From the right yiews of the settlement of n new country like this, exhibited in your leading . article in -the Wbekly Hbeaxd of the 11th instant, I am induced to Bond you for publication the following letter extracted from a Canadian paper. It is both amusing and instructive, and in conformation with your own ideas—that |it is not speculative farmers a new country requires, butjmen whose aim i» first to. raise crops enough to maintain their families, and from whom the Canadas Bprang to be now called the " Dominion."—l am, &c., "Waipu, 17th April, 1868.
