CRITICS AND CRITICISM.

To the Editor of the Herald. Shej—I have a taste for music. When the weather does not permit me to hear it I am very glad to hear of it. Xast night you know how wet it -was j I beg to inform you that T have also a great rcspect' for great people. I had heard so much about the " May Queen," and the Queen of the May, and "Bold Robin Hood, a forester good As eyer drew bow in the merry green wood," Tliat I took np a paper which I think is called the Crow—-you see how ignorant 1 am in local literature, hut you will excuse this, X know, as I live a long distance from Chancery Lane. But when I .wanted to read anything about the "Queen of the May" fiddle strings, and the big drum lo! and behold I was treated to a list of those who were present — " The Mayor of the Town—a man of renow— : _ A great shoemaker, a tailor, a baker, A doctor besides, and an undertaker — To all the live people in Derry." Of course the Governor was there and Lady Bowen, and Mr. Berancke. and Capt. Young, A.D.O.,and Mr Algernon Lempriere, and the Hot. this, and thj R.M that, and a great number. After reading a list of the names X forgot oil about the " May Qneen " having been so reduced in sentiment that I began to thiak whether the poor critic who wrote the notice had not forgot jto tell me who blacked the boots of the quality. That was one important omission.—l am, &c., Latjra Faikweathbb.
