THE RAGLAN ELECTION.

Thh Gross in its issue of yesterday says, " ACr. Chatiiberlin was as fortunate in the advocacy of our contemporary as Jifr. Farmer was in re~ ceivinff his abuso ; and the natural consequence was that the electors refused to consider JVIr. Chamberlin's merits, and returned Mr. Farmer by a largo majority." «•. Will our coteniporary kindly point out when and where this journal abused Mr. Farmer, as our memory requires refreshing on that point ? k As'regards the latter part of the remark we think we can say quite as fairly as the Cross that, "Wo did not in any way attempt to influence the electors in favour of one or other candidate pending the election." We certainly had little to say upon the matter. If the Cross, howover, will turn to the several elections, Provincial and General, which have taken place in this Province during the last few years, we think ho will find the public have "freely endorsed the opinions of this journal in regard to the selection of their representatives, despite the opposition which so many of these successful candidates recieved from our cotemporary.
