Pnos.sEit, one of the members for Westland at the Canterbury Provincial Council, addressed his Greymouth constituents last night at Kilgam's Uotol, and gave an account of the measures he had brought forward and those he had enforced, and stat'd that though willing lo do all in liis power to promoto the interests of Westland, he must decline being nominated at the coming: elections for General Assembly or Provincial Council,, as pressing privato business would require his attention. Sir. I 3 ro°eer appeared to consider it quite possible that the Provincial Council might endeavour to exclude the Westland members from holding their seats ; and he urged the necessity of electing members to take care of their seats.
