HERFORD FUND.
A Mketikg of the subscribers to tlie Herford Fund •was held at the " Masonic Hotel" on Saturdav afterTioon at half-past four o'clock, convened io elect trustees, and to consider tlie best means of investing the funds subscribed. Captain David fox occupied the chair. firmed rC^°r ' '* le ™ Co, ' ll g was read and con7be SrCBEXABY announced that the sum subscribed amounted to £379 75., which, deducting incidental left a net amount for investment of ±349 Bs.
Colonel Mould and Captains Biehatds and Bell ■were appointed trustees. Some considerable discussion then ensued as to the best means of investment, when it was ultimatelv resolved that the money should be lent upon approved mortgage, and that if possible a term of ten years should be obtained. The interest to be at not £*1 ?tr <e , n rer Cfl,t r er annum. A letter from colonel Haultam expressing his approbation of this pJsn was rend to the meeting. The following resolution was then proposed, seeorded, and carried unanimously : That the amount of money snbscribedteinvested oil mortgage." - ' the trustees are authorised to pav the interest of the funds to Mrs. Herford so long as f»}ie Temams 3Trs. Herford, but on licr mnminp again that the interest and principal be applicd'to the sole use of her children." " That at the expiration of sixteen rears, or when the youngest suivivinp child shall become of age or attain the ape of eighteen, that the trustees be children lde,he P rinci P al equally between the Captarn Pickaxes proposed and Captain Davidsonseconded a warm vote of thanks to Captain Holt, the i-ecretary to thp fund, for bis kindness and valuable assistance towards the widow and orphans of a lafe brother officer. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the business of the meeting.
