'Judge Ward and a ;jury of twelve were occupied ab the District Court from 11 a.m. to 3.80 p.m. to-day m the case of "William Aubrey, charged on the first fount with stealing a saddle, breeching, Jiames, traces, and driving reins, on or j»bout the 7th June ; and on the second count with receiving the said harness knowing it to have been dishonestly pome by. Mr White, for the Crown, opened at length, dwelling on the fact jthat the harness must have been stolen between the 4th and 12th ; that accused Bold the harness to Anderson on the J.3th ; and of the different stories the •accused told to Anderson and to Detective O'Brien. Evidence was given by Samuel Rutherford, Miss and Mrs Rutherford; George Sumpter, R. H. Anderson, E. Wilson, Detective O'Brien, and Constables Grahame (Ngapara) and Bradshaw (Kurowj. His Honor jefly summed up, and the jury, after a ilremenfc of fifteen minutes, found übrey guilty on the second count, and ntenced him to three months' imprisonent. 'In the other charge of receiving a ding bridle knowing it to have been ißhonestly obtained, the jury, by direcon of His Honor, formally returned a jrdict of not guilty.
