INVERCARGILL. January 28.
January Mr Oliver and Major Atkinson arrivad from Dunedia shortly before ten this opening, having been delayed en route by the inspection of the rival routes for the Edendale-Fortrose Railway. They were met at the railway station by a large crowd, part of whom cheered while othera signified their disapprobation, especially of Mr Oliver, by hooting him there, and following the ministerial party to the Club Hotel, hooting, groaning, and hissing vigorously meanwhile. A banquet is now (10.30 p.m.) being held in the Club Hotel.
