AWANUI WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

The Awanui Women’s Institute held its monthly meeting when Mrs. Gallaugher presided over a good attendance. An appeal for old clothing was made for a deserving case in the district also the usual Christmas one for the Lepers. Mrs. Hicks gave a very interesting report of the Gisborne Conference which she recently attended. Two new members were welcomed. The Roll Call, “Music I like” showed a variety of tastes among members. The winners of competitions were : Word competition—Mrs. Tapper; Best bloom—Mrs. Bird; Marmalade—Mrs. Logan. The hostesses were Mrs. Reg and Ray Matthews and Mrs. Price.
