Personal Mr. and Mrs. Alex Wright drove through to Auckland on Tuesday, arriving somewhere in the vicinity of three p.m. It looks as if Mr. Wright had been doing a little speeding on the Pamapuria Straight. New School Assistant Miss F. Serle took up her duties as assistant at our school on Monday, having motored through from Auckland on Saturday. Miss Johnson, who had been temporarily relieving, left for her home at Whangarei on Monday. . Opening of Tennis Season The Tennis Club members and their friends who assembled at the courts for the formal opening of the season were intensly disappointed that the cold, heavy showers entirely marred the proceedings, playing having perforce to be abandoned after lunch. On With the Dance Notwithstanding the inclement weather the weekly dance at the hall was very well patronised. Perhaps, in these days of the ten percent cuts, the hundred percent cut in the admission ffie had something to do with its popularity. A most enjoyable evening ended with supper at twelve o’clock. Takahue’s Oldest Identity Mr. J. B. Wright, affectionately known to the whole district as “Grandad,” will be 82 years old on Monday, still hale and hearty, and able to enjoy life thoroughly.
