Mangonui
Address Mrs. Harding and Miss Coates addressed a meeting in McKay’s Hall on Thursday evening, 22nd inst. There was a good attendance and the speakers received a good hearing. Cricketers’ Dance The first of the Mangonui cricketers’ fortnightly dances took place in McKay’s Hall on Wednesday evening, 21st instant. The attendance was only fair, but those present thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Labour Day Weather The weather for the week-end was cold and at time's rather boisterous. There were no special attractions for Labour Day, tennis providing- the only sport. Conditions were unfavourable for boating. Personal Mr. and Mrs. W. Berridge paid a brief visit to Mangonui during the week to bid farewell to their many friends. Shearing in Full Swing Shearing in the district is now in full swing and it is anticipated that the clip will be a heavy one. Let us hope that this year’s prices will not be so disappointing as last season’s. Butter Shipment The Oruru-Fairburn Dairy Factory shipped over 400 boxes of butter per last “Waka.” Feed has been ver.y slow of growth this spring, but the value of top-dressing has been amply demonstrated. It is generally recognised now that manuring is a very important and necessary factor for successful farming.
