ACCIDENTAL DEATH.

On Tue'sday last a very sad fatal accident occurred at Kaingaroa, the victim being Mr. Daniel Joseph Tall, a bushfelling contractor, working for the Ley-iand-O’Brien Timber Company there. It appears that thg deceased had just recently taken on a felling contract, and at the time the accident happened was working by himself. He apparently tried to run out of the way of a falling tree, but was caught by it, and practically crushed to death. The doctor was got out, but nothing could be done. The funeral took place at Kaitaia, Rev. Alfred Drake conducting the burial service. The whole of the L.O’B. employees ceased work for the day, and attended the service.

Mr. Tall was 41 years of age, and had just recently come to the district. He left a widow and family of five, for whom deep sympathy is expressed in the district.
