A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
EXECUTIVE MEETING. A meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held in the Agricultural Hall on the evening of Saturday July 22nd. Mr. E. C. Matthews, President, was in the chair, and there were present:—Messrs E. Parker, J. W. Johnston, W. Geard, Logan Morpeth, W. Pollock, W. H. Fatrimond, J. T. Clark, C. S. Puckey, and Dr. Lunn. A letter was received from the inspector ot noxious weeds requesting the Association to clear the gorse on its grounds. It was reported that nothing had yet been done in connection with the drafting of rules. The Show date was fixed for the second Friday in March. A discussion took place on the question of Sports date. There- seemed to be a consensus of opinion that sports did not come within the functions ot the Association, and that the fixture should be cut out altogether. However, it was decided to leave the matter to a full Committee meeting. The question of holding a two days show was also left over for the Committee meeting. The tender of Mr. J. Irvine was accepted for shifting and re-erecting the Hall near the road. Messrs J, H. Bedggood, Geard and F. H. S. Matthews were appointed a sub-committee to supervise the work, and arrange re new timber required etc. It was resolved that all the Association’s advertising be done in “The NORTHLAND Age.” Tenders are to be called for earth work alterations to the grounds, returnable August 31st. The yards will be shifted by voluntary labour.
