Whangape.

(From our own Correspondent.) Boxing Day was celebrated here by six Natives and half-castes getting married. The day was very hot, but it made 110 difference, for over two hundred Natives and whites gathered together to sc< the triple wedding. The contracting couples were Mr. Graham Taitimu and Miss Rebecca Hone Heke, Mr. Hakopa Poriphira and Mrs. Taimania Mathews (a widow), and Mr. T. Hunia and Miss Annie Mount. They were all married by Father Lightheart at 10 a.m. As the three couples left the church the spectators formed a semi-circle, it being the Maori custom to kiss all round, which l they tried to do, but some were missed. •The few lucky pakehas seemed to enjoy the latter ceremony, some never havingseen a Maori wedding before. 4 . Miss Hone Heke looked charming white muslin dress trimmed with white ribbons and lace. She wore the usual white flowers and long veil. Mrs. Mathews looked very nice in white silk, white satin ribbons. She also a wreath of flowers on her hair and a veil. Miss Mount, though quite a girl, was the most composed, and wore a cream skirt and white blouse with touches of pink, with a little other trimming. The wedding breakfast was served in the long meeting house at 12 noon. The large cake was made by Mrs. Mathews and beautifully decorated. During the afternoon races were held, but they were very rlow and a number of people went home. Then about 4 p.m. the rain began to fall, which spoilt the latter part.
