Cricket.

Victoria Valley v. Mangonui. The above teams met on the Mangonui wicket last. A great deal of intere* was centred in the match and consequently there was a good attendance of spectators, including visitors from Oruru, Taipa, Peria, Victoria Valley, etc. The play was very interesting and after a keenly contested game Mangonui proved victorious by 63 runs. For Victoria E-.. Panther and S. Harris played good cricket f<Jt their 30 and 42 respective,ly, while for the home team “Seddon” Penney and K. T. Wrathall made splendid scores. The match throughout was marked by the utmost good feeling between the players, as was the dinner at Mrs. .Berghan’s hotel the same evening. The cricket was good, the dinner was excellent, and a true sporting spirit was displayed by both teams whom we trust (though the tables should be turned) may meet again on many similarly happy occasions.
