OBITUARY

DONOR OF THE DAVIS CUP Washington, Nov. 29. The death has occurred of Mr Dwight Davis who was donor of the Davis Cup for tennis.

Born at St. Louis. Missouri in July, 1879, he was Assistant Secretary of War 1923-25, Secretary of War 1925-29, and Governor-General of the Philippine Islands 1929-32.

The Davis Cup donated in 1900 for international tennis competition was first played for in the same year when the United States defeated Great Britain. The cup is at present held by Australia.
