BRITISH TROOPS IN PALESTINE HIGH COMMISSIONER’S STATEMENT ( Jerusaleum, Nov., 29. Government forces have every legal right to carry out such a search and citizens have no right whatever to resist it. No Jewish lives were lost until the troops fired on were forced to retaliate. The Jewish Elected Assembly passed a resolution protesting against the British policy in Palestine as outlined by Mr Bevin recently. The Assembly stated that the policy made the right of the Jews to return to their homeland dependent on the will of others and b ocked the way to redemption “for the remnants of the charnal house of Europe.” INQUIRY COMMISSION It is understood that the British and American Palestine Inquiry Commission will consist of about 10 members, half of them being from each country with a British and American chairman acting alternately says “The Times” diplomatic correspondent. The names of the proposed members are now being exchanged between Washington and London for approval AUSTRIAN CABINET RESIGNS Vienna, Nov.. 28.
The Cabinet has placed its resignation in the hands of Dr Renner and his Political Council. The Council has asked the Government to remain in office until Parliament meets on 18th December. It has requested the Catho. lice People’s Party to try and form a new government in the meantime.
