RICHMOND W.D.F.U.
The monthly meeting of the Richmond W.D.F.U. was held recently in the Rest Room. Mrs Hockey, president, who presided over a large number of members and friends welcomed the guests and then gave a very interesting talk on the 'The Life of Charlotte Bronte’ from whom all could learn something. The roll call “Subscriptions’’ was well answered. Miss Hammond was asked to represent the branch at the annual conference to be held in Wellington. It was decided to hold the annual Ball in the first week in September The speaker for tile afternoon was Mrs Moncrieif who ga.e a most interesting address on the Bird Life of Australia, and a vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses Mesdames H. Best, Bright, Berryman. Campbell and E. Cioss and the singing of the National Anthem brought a happy afternoon to a close. Competitions resulted as followsGinger biscuits, Mrs Tanner 1 Mrs Best 2. Chutney, Miss Hammond 1 Mrs Mason 2, Mrs Poole 3. Hellebore, Miss Hammond 1, Mrs McGlashen 2’ Mrs H. McDonald 3.
