HOLIDAY CROWDS STRANDED

LIVERPOOL RAILWAYMEN STRIKE London, August 6. Holiday crowds in Liverpool and district were stranded when Liverpool railwaymen carried out a threat not to work on Sundays. The city was almost trainless. Travellers from London to Ramsgate. Margate and other Kent coast resorts were warned by notices on stations that there might be a “Sunday only” strike by railway workers. Railway officials said 150 to 200 railwaymen in one South London depot were not working. There was a limited service on some lines. The strike was due to dissatisfaction with pay and working conditions. The railwaymen decided to continue to stay out on the bank holiday to-day.
