WELCOME TO SCHOOL INSPECTOR
TEACHERS HOLD SOCIAL EVENING A happy function was held at the Ritz tea rooms on a recent evening when school teachers from town and country districts gathered to welcome the new inspector, Mr K. 11. O’Halloran. Addresses wer delivered by Mr H. E. McConchie, president of the Nelson branch of the N.Z.E.1., and Mr C. A. Cumming, Senior Inspector of schools Mrs Henderson and Mrs Glendinning had arranged an attractive programme, including items by teachers, assisted by Mr Cumming, Mrs Allen and Miss Hodgson. Prior to the supper adjournment Mrs Glendinning, on behalf of the Women Teachers’ Association, presented Mrs O’Halloran with a beautiful bouquet. In thanking the teachers for their warm welcome, Mr O’Halloran remarked that he had already been welcomed by the Education Board. To Mr Cumming also he was indebted for help freely offered. He had visited many schools in the board’s district and complimented the teachers and others concerned on the generally attractive appearance of the buildings and grounds. _________
