PLUNKET SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Nelson branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Waimea County Council Chambers, Miss Nevin (president) was in the chair. Accounts amounting to £BS 14s 5d were passed for payment. Miss Thomson, assistant nursing advisor to the council, paid her first official visit to Nelson and expressed satisfaction to the executive at the conduct of the affairs of the branch. Miss Beatson was entertained .at a farewell tea by members of committee and sub-committee, and a f presentation was made to her. Tahuna sub-committee wrote asking the Nelson branch to approach the City Council for permission to erect Plunket rooms at Tahuna. The Stoke president reported that as the Education Board required the use of the Anglican Sunday School she had approached the trustees of the Methodist Sunday School for permission to use their room, which courtesy was granted. The nurse’s report showed that there are 357 babies and 368 pre-school children under Plunket supervision in Nelson. There were 31 new cases during the month and 193 homes were visifed. Ii the country there were 90 babies and 30 pre-school children under supervision and 9 new cases this month. Visits to rooms in country districts were as follows:—Richmond, adults 38, babies 38, pre-school 1, new cases 4. Murchison, adults 22, babies 21, preschool 1, new cases 2. Wakefield, adults 27, babies 27, new case 1. Dovedale, 4 home visits and 2 new cases. Tahuna, adults 8, babies 8, pre-school 1, new cases 5, home visits 20. Stoke, adults 6, babies 6, pre-school 1, new case 1, home visits 22.
