OSTLER AND CHRISTIE Christchurch, Oct. 14. H. A. Ostler, who was reported on i Saturday to be still detained at Paparan prison because he would not agree to sign double probation papers, was released from the prison on Saturday j morning, and escorted by an Army staff ; officer to District Headquarters and taken to Burnham camp. Ostler was convicted on subversion charges last ! | January and sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment. Four months of the .sentence were remitted in the ordinary way. but without Ostler admitting him-: self to probation as required .His name : j appeared in an overseas ballot earlier 1 • this year, and he has been taken to Burnham to await medical examination. . The release of T. B. C. Christie, who | stood trial with Ostler, has already : j been made.
