MURDER CHARGE
MINISTER FOUND GUILTY MOTHER -IN-LAW VICTIM Auckland, Oct. 15. The death of Mrs F. L. Corrigan, who wa.; well known in Tauranga. resulted in a murder charge against the Rev. V. V. Verbi. her son-inlaw, aci nrding to news received from Nairobi. East Africa. Mrs Corrigan was visiting Verbi’s house, in an isolated part of the colony, and a disagreement developed as to a visit to Kilimunjaro. Next day Mrs Corrigan was killed on the verandah by a shot from the sports gun of. Verbi. The acused version of the tragedy was that when Mrs Corrigan came out of the house he had the gun poi. sod. with his fingers on the triggers, and as he turned, startled, one barrel was discharged almost simultaneously with the other. Mrs Corrigan fell, c-’ortally wounded. The story of the accused was not accepted by a jury, and at an extended trial, which has just concluded, a verdict of murder was returned.—P.A.
