A Middle East R AF. communique stales: "Objectives in Libya were raidied by R A F. aircraft and Naval aircraft on the night of 12th-13th October. : In the frontier area enemy fortified ! positions were bombed in co-operation i with our artillery, while at Gaza la fires j were started south of the landing ground and ammunition dumps near ; the aerodrome exploded. "Bombs fell on Ihe flare path and a j nun position at Derna, where two attacks were carried out. In daylight air--1 craft of the South African Air Force bombed aircraft, on the landing ground. A direct hit was scored on one ; machine and other bombs exploded ! among groups of dispersed aircraft. By night the landing ground was bombed and machine-gunned and Bardia was also raided. Heavy bomb- | ers of the R.A.F. attacked oil installaI tions in the Pireaus harbour on the night of 12th-13th In spite of bad weather the objective was effectively ; bombed, lires resulting from the attack. In daylight yesterday a successful raid was made on a convoy of enemy patrol lorries on the road between ; Tripoli and Benghazi. A number of | large lorries and trailers were destroyjed and many others badly damaged. After the bombing attack the convoy I was heavily machine-gunned.
