EXPORT OF BACONERS
QUESTION OF WEIGHT [United Press Association) Palmerston N., This Day. Regarding the decision to permit the export of baconers in stock up to 12th April, Mr C. Hausmann, president of tht. New Zealand Association of Baconcurers, stated that at the annual meeting in Christchurch passed ~ resolution requesting the Minister of Marketing to announce immediately the lifting of the weight of porker killings after 30th June to 1201bs for export. This is desirable as porkers to this weight will be accepted by the United Kingdom to the extent of the shipping space available and will greatly facilitate the conversion of the necessary pigs to baconer weights in the spring, when there was every indication that carcases of baconer weights would be in short supply for local consumption.
