ANZAC NIGHT BROADCAST
NATIONAL PATRIOTIC APPEAL NELSON ARRANGEMENTS At a recent meeting of the Nelson Provincial Patriotic Executive advice was received from the National Patriot tic Fund Board that arrangements were being made for a link up of the main National and Commercial Stations on the evening of Anzac Day when a specially arranged programme is to be submitted and an appeal made on behalf of Provincial Patriotic Funds.
The Nelson Provincial Council was asked to co-operate by making an appeal during the programme from the local Station 2YN, and generally to assist in ensuring the success of the appeal locally. The Provincial Executive has, however, pointed out to the National Board that a very successful radio appeal was made from Station 2YN recently, and that an undertaking was then given that no further direct appeals would be made this year unless conditions so cnanged as to make such an appeal necessary. For these reasons no appeal will be made from Station 2YN by or on behalf of the Nelson Provincial Council. At the same time, the Provincial Executive is of the opinion' that on such an occasion as the Anniversary of Anzac Day, local residents should not be deprived of the opportunity of expressing the feelings of gratitude which the day inspires. It has accordingly been arranged that Station 2YN will rebroadcast the programme from 2YA, and Post and Telephone offices throughout the province will remain open during the evening to receive and transmit to the appropriate centre all contributions or promises that residents may wish to make. Contributors in Nelson City should communicate with the Chief Postmaster by Telephone No. 100, and those in other parts of the province with the nearest post office. Donations will be acknowledged as follows: From Nelson City and Northern part of the province: Station 2Y.A. From Murchison and Buffer: Station 3Y.A. The Chief Postmaster will be pleased to receive at any time before Anzac Day donations or promises from intending contributors and from any resident to whom the telephone is not available.
