LATE SHOPPING NIGHT ON THURSDAY
ALL SHOPS CLOSE ON FRIDAY All shops and factories in the city and country districts will be closed next Friday, Anzac Day. Nelson shops will recognise the late shopping night this week on Thursday evening. The same provisions of the law apply on Anzac Day in relation to the sale of goods as apply on an ordinary Sunday. Under the Factories Act Amendment, 1936, Anzac Day is a holiday, and no female or boy can be employed in a factory on that day. Furthermore, the provisions of the Police Offences Act make it an offence for any worker to carry on the usual occupation within view of the general public on Anzac Day irrespective of whether within or outside of the factory.
