NELSON BOARD MEETS APPLICATIONS DEALT WITH At a meeting of the Nelson Land Board this week there were present: Messrs P. R. Wilkinson. Commissioner of Crown Lands (chairman). F. W. ; Gibbs, J. Creighton and A. Rowling. : Leave of absence was granted to Mr J. 1 O Regan and general sympathy was expressed with him in his illness and a unanimous motion for his speedy recov- • ery was passed. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND Applications have been received from Messrs J. R. Silcock and J. A. Mitchell for grazing rights over section 10 block 11. Reefton Survey District and sections 11, 12. 14 and 16 of the same district also section 18 block VI. Reefton S.D. and an area of adjoining pakihi land — , a total area of aproximately 500 acres. It was adjourned for one month. Area of 1 acre 3 roods block 3, Steeples Survey District. Applicant—M . D. Duncan. It was resolved to grant Mr M. D. Duncan a year to year license over 1 1 acre 3 roods in block 1, Steeples Surj vey District at a rental of 10s per annum as from 1.1.41. Section 4. block 111, Burnett Survey 'District, area 359 acres. Aplicant—A. W. Gibson. It was resolved to grant a year to year license to Mr A. W. Gibson over section 4 block 111, Burnett Survey District as from 14.11.40 at a rental of £1 , 10s per anum. Section 139. Westport Colliery Reserve, area 16.36 perches. Applicant— W. H. H. Roche. It was resolved that resolutions of 8.2.40 and 9.5.40 we rescinded and to , grant Mr W. H. H. Roche a new lease under paragraph (g) of section 5 of the Public Bodies Leases Act, 1908, over section 139 of the Westport Colliery Reserve for a term of 21 years from 1.1.1937 annual rental £2 10s under the i authority given by section 27 of the Reserves and Other Land Disposal Act, , 1940.

Section 14. block VII Takaka Survey district, area 110 acres. Applicant—| James Franklyn. It was resolved that resolution of; 12.9.40 be l'escinded and to grant Mr ; James Franklyn a year to year license 1 from 1.1.40 at a rental of £1 4s peri annum. Section 6, block X, Wai-iti Survey District, area 731 acres 2 roods. Applicant—L. C. Baigent. It was resolved to grant Mr L. C.. Baigent a year to year license over section 6, block X. Wai-iti Survey District as from 14.11.40 at a rental of £2 per annum. Section 3. block IV, French Pass Survey District. Applicants—D.W. and D.M. Aston. It was resolved to grant Messrs D.W. and D.M. Aston a year to year grazing license over section 3, block IV. French Pass Survey District as from 14.11.40 at a rental of £1 per anum. Section 53 sq. 138 block XV, Lyell Survey District, area 24ac 28pchs. Applicants—J. S. Guildford. The application of Mr J. S. Guildford was declined. It was resolved to reoffer this property for selection at a capital value of £4O weighted with improvements amounting to £ll3, a cash deposit of £l3, balance payable over a term of 5 years. Area of 2 acres in block 111. Kawatiri Survey District. Applicant—Mary McGillicuddy. It was resolved to cancel license held by Mr N. Forsyth as at 31.12.40 and to grant Miss Mary McGillicuddy a year to year license from 1.1.41 at a rental of 15s per anum.

CANCELLATIONS Part section 6. block IX, Waitakere Survey District, area 25 acres. It was resolved to terminate license on 32.12.40 unless declarations and royalties are received prior to that date. Section 22, block VII Kaiterileri and part section 14. block IX, Kaiteriteri Survey District, area 1017 acres. It was resolved that resolution of 11.7.40 be rescinded. It was resolved 'to grant Mr C. F. Murcott a timber cutting permit over 50 acres of sections 18. 16. 14. 12. blocks II and VI Reefton Survey District from 14.11.40 for a term of six months—royalty at State Forest rates, permit fee 2s 6d.
