ORGANISED BY THREE CHILDREN On Saturday afternoon. a placard with “Come to our Fair” outside a house in Muritai street. Tahuna, enticed over 40 people to the grounds inside. The fair was organised and run by three Tahunanui children. Florence and Arthur Robertson and Lyall Awdray. with their helpers Margaret Jaspers and Megan Ashton. The fair began by being held in the garage, belonging to Mrs Robertson. but so many patrons arrived that it was necessary to transpose everything except the Indian with his magic. the fortune teller and the darts to the garden. Outside was the stall, which sold vegetables, sweets and useful “variosities” at very cheap rates. Afternoon tea was served on the verandah, and three guessing competitions were held. The very commendable sum of £3 2s was made and is to lie handed over to the Patriotic Funds.
