AIR FORCE PLANE FROM OHAKEA PILOT DEAD IN COCKPIT [United Press Association] PALMERSTON N., 17th November The Oxford aircraft of the R.N.Z.A.F. which failed to return to Ohakea aerodrome on Thursday night was discovered five miles back in the hills behind Tokomaru with what remained of the body of Pilot Officer Thomas E. Kirk, who was the sole occupant, still in the cockpit. The wreckage was located as the . result of an aerial search by aircraft ■ from Ohakea. After levelling 12 trees 1 the planes nosedived into the bed of a i gorge and caught fire. A party of police, aviation officials and settlers I brought the body out to-day. Nothing is yet known of how Pilot I Officer Kirk came to get off his course.
