NEW MINISTRY

WORKS AND BUILDINGS LORD REITH IN CHARGE [British Official Wtrelessj (Received 25th October, 10.50 a.m.) RUGBY, 24th October. Mr Attlee, Lord Privy Seal, to-day announced the formation of a Ministry of Works and Buildings of which Lord Reith is Minister. The new Ministry will be responsible for the erection of all new civil works and buildings required by any other Government department. It will take over to begin with the whole organisation of the British Office of Works. A production council will lay down general orders of priority in building work. It is clear, said Mr Attlee, that the reconstruction of the town and country after the war raises a great problem and gives a great opportunity.
