An Italian communique admits the loss of the destroyer Francesco Nullo in the Red Sea action, but says she was scuttled by the captain after seeing the crew safe and went down with his ship. It refers to British attack against Italian positions eastward and southward of Siddi Barrani and claims that the enemy was repulsed with the loss of some prisoners and equipment. British planes raided Massawa, where six were wounded: Baharda- two killed and one wounded; Tesseni- nine wounded; and Gondar, one killed and six wounded.
