REPORTS

WORKS COMMITTEE A meeting of the Works Committee held on Tuesday, 9th May, was attended by Councillor Pettit (chairman), the Mayor. Councillors Harley, Street. Sharland and McArthur. Councillor Neale was also present during the consideration of clause (1) below. The Committee reported and recommended :—• As to the letter from Miss G. A. Crawford submitting for approval a plan of the proposed subdivision of part section 611. Bronte street: That the application be not approved. As to the letter from the Commissioner of Crown Lands requesting the extension of Hampden Terrace for housing purposes: That the writer be informed that the Council is prepared t«> form the road and to provide the necessary services under the usual conditions.

As to the letter from the Commissioner of Crown Lands enquiring whether the Council would be prepared to form Tukuka street fronting section 989 in the event of the acquisition of the property for housing purposes: That the Department be asked if it would provide additional land on the lower sifie of the road reservation in order to lighten the gradient and to obviate the heavy cuttings which would be required on the present line of the street. The ifeport was adopted.
