Y.M.C.A. DEFEAT COLLEGE B In an interesting game played at Victory Square on Saturday. Y.M.C.A. defeated College B by ten wickets, after an exciting finish. Batting first Y.M.C.A. were soon in difficulties, losing Blincoe and Wicks for only four runs, but O’Donnell and Preece became associated in a valuable partnership which realised 86 runs. In his 64. O’Donnell hit 11 fours. The innings closed at 154. Scores: O'Donnell 64, Preece 27. Robinson 13. Thirty extras helped the score considerably. The most successful bowlers for College were Grant five wickets for 26, Thorp four for 60. College failed sadly in their first innings, being all out for 39. Bowling for Y.M.C.A. Cederman four wickets for 5, Preece four for 21, Wicks one for 10. Mauchline one for 0. Following on, College did much bett-: \ the opening pair putting on 39 runs. Good innings by Griffin and Hayton saw the score reach 140, 26 runs ahead of Y.M.C.A. Scores: Griffin 21, Hayton 26, Scadden 18, Grant 17, Overton 16 not out, Simpson 13. Bowling for Y.M.C.A. Coleman four for 20, Cederman three for 35. An exciting finish resulted. With nine minutes left to play and 26 runs to get, Y.M.C.A. went all out for the runs, and hard hitting on the part of Wicks saw the required runs got for a 6 point win, there being none for 35 at stumps, Wicks 29 not out.
