GARDEN FETE A garden fete was recently held at "The Hayes." Stoke, in aid of the I newly-raised Stoke company of Girl ! Guides. | The company was lucky in having a fine day. The Provincial CommissionI er, Miss Gray, introduced by Mrs C. G. Campbell, the District Commissioner, opened the proceedings with a very interesting address. j The gudies had worked for weeks : n preparing all the dainty things for the fancy and sweet stalls. ! During the afternoon a play depict- ; ing guide activities and a country j I dance were performed on the lawn, j i There was also a produce stall and j bran tub. Afternoon tea and ices were j provided by the committee and the parents of the guides. The new company is to be congratu- j lated upon providing a very enjoyable ! afternoon's entertainment and the ; funds greatly benefited by the sales. i
