SPANISH GOVERNMENT'S | DECLARATION GRAVE SITUATION ADMITTED IMPASSIONED APPEAL TO CATALANS [United Press Association —By Electrlo Telegraph—Copy right 1 (Received 30th March, 9.0 a.m.) BARCELONA, 29th March. “A truce of any sort with General Franco is impossible. The Government will never consider it,” declared the Spanish Prime Minister, Senor Ncgrin, in a broadcast speech in which he made an impassioned appeal to the Catalans to stand firm a.nd imitate Madrid. He admitted the situation was now most grave. “I will not attempt to hide it,” he '• said, “but every day we resist is a day gained for Spain. Our watchword must jbe ‘Resist and resist. Fight and fight.’ ” Senor Negrin also declared that the Germans were preparing to stay in Spain. “This is shown by the fact that already they are bringing in their i families,” he added.
