BREACHES OF CURFEW ORDER
HUNDREDS OF ARRESTS MARTIAL LAW IMMINENT I (Received 19th October, noon) JERUSALEM, 18th October. The wireless and post office service at Lydda was temporarily patched up. Investigations show that the raiders were familiar with the movements oi a small patrol, which was resting in the hut when the fire started, in which valuable apparatus, documents, and passports were destroyed. This is the second time that incendiaries have destroyed tlie whole of the Lydda wireless equipment. The total loss is between £15,000 and £20,000. In view of the continuance of terrorism preparations have been completed for enforcing martial law, which is believed to be imminent. There were hundreds of arrests today for breaches of a curfew order. An Arab doctor, Abu Labbi, was arrested for refusing to give the names of terrorists under treatment. “The Time:-” Beirut correspondent says that the Grand Mufti, arrived from Jaffa. Belipved to be the result of sabotage, the Customs shed, wireless room and other buildings at Lydda airport were burnt out last week.
