NELSON EDUCATION BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING CONCLUDED ANNUAL SCHOOLS’ COMBINED SPORTS The monthly meeting of the Nelson Education Board was concluded yesterday afternoon when the chairman, the lion. W. 11. Mclntyre presided. The secretary reported that no further information had been obtained regarding the distribution of Coronation Souvenirs to schools. The chairman commented: “We’ve tried our best, but can get nothing definite.” The Golden Bay Schools’ sports Association advised that the annual meeting would be held at Takaka on 25th October. The Motueka Combined Schools’ Sports Association advised that its annual meeting would be held at Motuek,i on the 22nd October. The Nelson College Council of Governors notified the board that the Tinline scholarship would be awarded this year, and the conditions were set out. The Westport committee was granted £lO towards incidental expenses. Three tenders for the conversion of the old Collingwood school into a manual training building were received. Th' tender of Mr W. S. Drummond, the lowest, was accepted. The Education Department advised that a grant of £l2O had been made towards the cost of equipment for cookery and woodwork classes at Collingwood.
