BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AT TEMUKA fOuited PreSs Apfeoniatlrtnl TIMARU, 18th Jung. Generally acclaimed to be the World's oldest living Manchester Unity Oddfellow, Mr Andrew Liddle, an Otago pioneer, to-day celebrated hiS ninetyfifth birthday with his son at Temuka. Mr Liddle landed at Fort Chalmers 79 years ago, and with the exception of ,a Short period In Auckland, has lived his life in the South Island. He Was in Nelson at the time of the Maungatapu murders in 1866, and vividly recalls the excitement they created. In 1882 he went from Christchurch to Wintpn, where he was later Mayor. By 1875 he had occupied all the offices of the MahcheH.r Lodge in Canterbury, includihg that Of provincial grand master, ahd In that year tpok the purple degree. Ii February this year he completed 71 years of membership.
