FORTNIGHTLY MEETING QUESTION OF GAS SUPPLY At the fortnightly meeting of the Tahunanui Town Board held last evening,, there were present: Messrs M. O’Sullivan (chairman), C. Chamberlain, A. Stag'g, J. Nightingale, W. G. Tiller, J. Logan and T. W. Roberts. Accounts amounting to £l3 17s were passed for payment. Mr R. Hodges wrote requesting the Works Committee to inspect the water table on the Muritai street frontage of his property, as there was no fall. The Works Committee is to inspect the locality. The Nelson Children’s Health Camp Association wrote requesting a donation from the Board. It was resolved that a donation of one guinea be made. Mr C. Trail’s report on the road being constructed on Mrs Toswill’s estate was received. The quarterly report of the Health Inspector (Mr H. Coltman) was received. It was stated that two new residences had been built during the period, the necessary drainage being satisfactorily installed. Mr Chamberlain brought up the question of a gas supply for Tahunanui. He stated that he had heard of a method by which gas for household purposes could be stored in cylinders, and this might “fill the bill”, for , Tahunanui. The gas was not expensive and was quite harmless. He then moved that the City Council be written to asking if they had further information of a gas supply for Tahunanui either by pipes or other method. The motion was seconded by Mr Tiller and carried.
